5 Celebrities Who Support Animal Adoption
We look to celebrities for their fashion, their acting, and their fascinating lives. But did you know that we can also look to them to do the right thing? There are a variety of celebrity figures that support adopting a rescued animal and are even willing to go farther than that! It inspires us to do the same in our own daily lives, and it’s great to see it become a more common practice for public figures in the media.
Here are five celebs that work to bring attention to this important topic.
1. Ellen DeGeneres
Standup comedian, sitcom star, successful talk show host Ellen DeGeneres has been many things during her fruitful career. Now she can add animal activist to that long list. In addition to co-owning Halo Purely for Pets, a pet care company with a focus on holistic approaches to their products, she also launched a Facebook game called Joy Kingdom in 2012 which allowed players to donate their earned currency to animal charities! It’s clear that this comedian has a great stake in the continued promotion of animal adoption, and uses her fame to contribute to raising awareness.
In addition to adopting his two terriers Squiddly and Diddly in 2013, Cowell has shown a great commitment to the welfare of rescued animals. He also works for PETA as a celebrity model, and has spoken out against those who promote neglect and abuse of animals. For the gruff exterior he presents in his public persona, he certainly has a soft spot for the plight of animals in need of good homes!
3. Ryan Reynolds
Ryan Reynolds, known for his recent Hollywood superhero escapades, has a soft spot for rescued animals. While at a rescue shelter looking to find an animal for his friend, Ryan also ended up adopting a golden retriever of his own. It’s great that he thought to visit there for his friend, but it’s even better that he opened his own home to a animal in need of rescue!
4. Ke$ha
The pop superstar is not only known for her catchy tunes, but also for being an avid and fervent supporter of animal rights. She did a promotional video for the Humane Society of America and was even named the first Global Ambassador for the Humane Society International! It’s great to see that her passion not only extends to her music, but also for helping raise awareness for humane societies and rescue shelters everywhere!
5. Bob Barker
Bob Barker was the host of The Price is Right for 35 years, and anyone who ever watched the show is familiar with his plea to viewers to spay and neuter their pets. Given how large of a concern this is for rising animal populations, but his commitment went ever farther than that. He founded the DJ&T Foundation, a group that has help raise millions of dollars to support both animal rescue and spaying/neutering programs!
