6 Reasons to Adopt a Rabbit

When talking about pets, most people think of dogs and cats. However, there are so many small animals that make wonderful companions. Rabbits can become great additions to the family for many reasons!

Here are 6 reasons to consider a rabbit as a pet!

1. Great for apartments

Rabbits typically need less space than other pets. They don’t need to be walked and can exercise by running around a couple of hours outside of their cages in a safe environment. They are also generally clean. Although they frequently groom themselves, owners should brush their fur a few times a week to keep their fur from matting. They frequently poop, but they can be trained to use a litter box. Additionally, they are very quiet so your neighbors will never complain about any noise from your rabbit!

2. Eco-friendly

Rabbits don’t need expensive toys or food. They are happy to play with toilet paper rolls, old towels, cardboard, and many other recyclable items. Recycled paper can be used in their litter box. You can also grow your rabbit’s food! Rabbits love food such as lettuce, carrots, bok choy, and herbs.

3. Distinct personalities

Like dogs and cats, each rabbit has its own personality. Some can be affectionate, friendly, energetic, and goofy, while others may be a bit more calm and shy. Spending time with the rabbit before bringing it into your home will allow you to see if your personalities mesh well.

4. Bond closely with others

After rabbits get to know their owners well, they can become very bonded. They recognized them by voice and sight. Rabbits may even come running when their owners call for them. You can also teach rabbits using the same techniques to train dogs! The best bonding is spending time together.

5. Long lifespan

As long as they are well taken care of, household rabbits can live 8 to 12 years or longer! In comparison to others small mammals, rabbits live longer, which is attractive for many people. Rabbits that live outside have a much shorter lifespan due to predators, such as large birds, and other outdoor elements.

6. Reduce stress

Many scientific studies have shown that watching, petting, and cuddling with bunnies can reduce stress! Not only that, but it can make you happy. There is nothing more therapeutic than cuddling up with a fluffy rabbit after a long day.

Whatever reasons you have, adopting a sweet, fluffy rabbit can be a rewarding experience!

I’ve been considering getting a rabbit. It makes sense that I would want to be prepared to take care of it’s coat! If it doesn’t groom itself enough then I should probably find a professional that can handle that for me.
