Best Doggy Destinations: Miami
Welcome to Best Doggy Destinations! Every week we feature a city with dog-friendly places worth checking out.
This week we’re featuring Miami, a great vacation spot with tropical weather for you and your dog to enjoy any time of the year!
With trails, a petting zoo, picnic shelters, and a lake, this park is entertaining for both kids and adults. There’s a five-acre bark park for dogs to stretch their legs and roam around. The bark park also has a water fountain and waste bags.
Whether you’re spending the day with family, friends, or just your dog, there’s plenty here to keep everybody busy.
Miami has a lot of other parks to explore. Make sure to visit Perrine Wayside Park, which has lake and a hose to clean off your dog. Also check out Blanche Park and Tropical Dog Park.
This park has two separate sections for big dogs and small dogs, complete with drinking fountains, waste bags, benches, and picnic tables.
While it doesn’t offer as much as Amelia Earhart Park, Haulover Beach Park is still a great place for anybody who appreciates the simplicity of it.
After a stroll through the park, you can head over to the beach, which is right across from it. Dogs are allowed leash-free from 8am to 3pm on weekends.
Also try North Shore Open Space Park.
3. Doggie Bag Café & Pet Boutique
When treating your dog to gourmet food, it’s a bonus knowing that the food is organic, with no by products, preservatives or harmful chemicals.
The café offers a wide variety of healthy meals from mixed rice to beef stew. There’s an additional bakery menu with doggy deserts, and they sell other items like bowls, cookie jars, and pillows.
With excellent quality and so much to choose from, it’s no wonder the café won the Miami Award for specialty food three times in a row from 2013 to 2015!
4. Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink
Dogs aren’t the only ones that get to enjoy organic food. Treat yourself to Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink, a restaurant that promotes healthy eating and local ingredients. Your dog is welcome to join you when you eat on the patio.
Known for its laid-back atmosphere, Sunday brunch, and breakfast pizza, Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink is a healthy eating option that you can enjoy with your dog right beside you.
If you feel like shopping while taking your dog for a walk, look no further than Bal Harbour Shops. It’s an outdoor shopping center with high-end stores like Gucci, Chanel, and Prada.
Even if you’re just window-shopping, you can still enjoy a leisurely walk with your dog in the warm weather. Dogs are also allowed inside a few of the stores and at the outside restaurants.
Also check out this dog friendly mall, The Shops at Merrick Park.
