Best Doggy Destinations: New York City
Welcome to Best Doggy Destinations! Each week, we’ll be featuring a different city that has some great spots to take your dog. This week’s city is the Big Apple itself, New York City!
Whether you’re a local or a tourist, you should definitely consider checking these places out with your dog.
1. Central Park
Central Park is an iconic part of NYC. It’s also the ideal place to take walks, exercise, and play with your dog. With a size of over 800 acres, this Manhattan park definitely has enough space for you and your dog to explore.
Just make sure you follow these rules for where and when your dog needs to have a leash and which areas of the park your dog is allowed in. Once you’ve read through them, you’re all set!
Don’t forget to check out these other NYC parks with your dog:
Coney Island is another iconic NYC spot that welcomes dogs. Although they’re not allowed in the water at anytime, they’re free to go in the sand from October 1 to May 1. After the beach, make sure to check out all the amusement rides too!

They even have a wide selection of fleeces, coats, and hoodies for cold or rainy walks. If that’s not enough to convince you, there’s a biscuit bar with a variety of healthy treats for your dog to choose from.
Happy Paws Pet Resort offers daycare services, grooming, and training. They work with the Pet Care Services Association as well as the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. The society brings over shelter pets for the resort’s monthly animal adoption event.
Also check out the New York Dog Spa and Hotel and the Canine Country Club and Pet Spa.
For more information about the resort, you can visit their website. They have some great features like their “Day of Daycare Video” and a virtual tour of the place.
