Top 10 Dog Movies on Netflix

With the holiday season approaching, it’s time to cuddle up with your dog and binge watch some of your favorite dog movies on Netflix. Some of them will make you cry, while others will take you on a trip down memory lane.

Grab your blanket and a tub of ice cream and check out these 10 dog movies on Netflix.

1. Cats & Dogs (2001)

Everybody knows cats and dogs don’t get along, but very few know about the kind of technological warfare these pets get into. Cats & Dogs features the voice acting talents of Tobey Maguire (Spiderman) and Alec Baldwin (30 Rock).

2. Air Bud series (1997-2013)

This family-favorite Disney series features Buddy, the athletic golden retriever. From soccer to baseball to volleyball, Buddy can do it all. Netflix doesn’t have every installment of the series, but there’s enough to keep you entertained during the holidays!

3. 101 Dalmatians (1996)

Cruella De Vil is the iconic villain we love to hate. Kidnapping dogs for their fur? Cruella, indeed.

4. Hachi: A Dog’s Tale (2009)

Hachi is based on the true story about a loyal Akita that waits for his owner every day at the train station. It has a near-perfect score on Netflix, so you know it’s good. Get some tissues ready for yourself and your dog.

5. Beethoven series (1992-2014)

Follow the adventures of your favorite St. Bernard as he looks for treasurer in Beethoven’s Treasure Tail and celebrates the holidays in Beethoven’s Christmas Adventure. Unfortunately, Netflix doesn’t have any of the original installments.

6. Lassie (2005)

Lassie is the definition of a loyal dog: no matter where this collie ends up, she always tries to find the way back home to her original family, even if that means trekking over 500 miles through Scotland.

 7. Red Dog (2012)

Still have your tissues? Good, because you’ll need them. Red Dog is based on a true story about an Australian kelpie that affects the lives of every person he meets as he roams through Australia.

8. Far from Home: The Adventures of Yellow Dog (1995)

If you were stranded in the middle of nowhere, what would you bring with you? I hope your answer is a Yellow Labrador Retriever, because that’s the key to survival for Angus McCormick, who gets lost in the Canadian wilderness with his dog.

9. Beverly Hills Chihuahua series (2008-2012)

Dog movies aren’t all tears and tissues. Netflix doesn’t have the original Beverly Hills Chihuahua, but comedian George Lopez takes center stage in its two sequels as the voice of Papi, a Chihuahua living it up in Beverly Hills.

10. The Fox and the Hound (1981)

Nothing says “nostalgic” quite like a Disney movie. The Fox and the Hound follows Tod the fox and Cooper the dog as they try to stay friends despite their owners keeping them apart.
